Thanksgiving in Asia

These are the images of yesteryear's Thanksgiving celebration with coworkers and fellow filmmakers at Bigfoot Entertainment on Mactan Island, Philippines. I must say, turkey has never tasted quite this good! Up above (L-R) Lori, Keith, Katie and Daphne.

Lori and Daphne have some silly wide angle fun!

Speak Up!

Photography by Elden

Out and about in Hong Kong, I have been networking and promoting Snarky Puppy. Promotion is a good time! These shots were taken at Speak Up a monthly artist networking event usually hosted at Philia in Lan Kwai Fong.

Awarding a copy of Snarky Puppy's "Bring Us The Bright." to the lady who deduced that Robert "Sput" Searight collaborated with Snoop Dogg [and Erykah Badu, Kirk Franklin and won a Grammy]

This is me trying to herd cats. Free stuff always helps :-)

Kate Sullivan
, the hostess in pink organizes and runs Speak Up with Roger De Leon. Kate starred (along with Roger) in a short called The Other End of the Gun.

Hangin' with Kevin of the Metro vocal group. They're performing twice Easter Weekend at Backstage.

UNT Alumni - Asia

I just created a group for UNT Alumni to collaborate. The focus is on Asia, but the reach is universal. The world is extremely interconnected and our alumni network should be as well. The simplest application of this group, considering the first batch of invites is to facilitate music in and through Asia - local gigs as well as tours. The more difficult and equally important goal is to strengthen ties between alumni of all disciplines, much like other schools of the same size (>30,000 students). UNT offers a top-notch education, but the alumni network is not as strong as it should be. This will change, and the "UNT Alumni - Asia" is a step in that direction.
Join today and collaborate!

Carbon Market

By far, my favorite market in Asia is Carbon Market in Cebu, Philippines. That's really saying a lot after seeing some awesome places in Ha Noi, Danang, Saigon, Phnom Penn, Luang Prabang, Siem Riep, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo. On assignment for Bigfoot Entertainment, I photographed the beautifully grungy market and its people. I'm told it's very dangerous there (especially to go alone as I did this time) but I found most people to be extremely friendly. My latest trip there was for a fashion shoot. More to come. Oh yes.

minor setback

In case you were wondering, Imacs don't travel well to Asia. If I had to choose a scape goat, I'd pick Cathay Pacific. Their Hanoi office did nothing useful for me during my time there. Good thing I have an apple care protection plan...or do I? uh-oh. Thankfully, no data was lost and you'll be catching a few photos from New York as well as Renfrizzle and a few new press photos for Snarky's CD release at the end of this month as they kick off their tour. I'll also be updating you on happenings at the adventurous and pioneering Bigfoot Entertainment.

And in case I didn't mention it, Imacs don't travel well to Asia.

Back in Texas

I'm back in Texas, but here's a better peek at that shoot I mentioned a while back:

This is a short & sweet look at a shoot for Australian fashion labels "Contraband" and "Things of Substance."

Shot at the Intercontinental Hotel (Ha Noi, Viet Nam) for Contraband's spring and summer line.

Music by the Thad Jones - Mel Lewis orchestra remixed by jazz arranger/composer John Guari
Video by Bethany Bauman (aka "B") and Michal GarcĂa
model: Kristen Allerton

Below are the stills featured in the video. Enjoy!
